About Carl & Heather Cartee

Carl and Heather Cartee are a husband and wife duo who have been making music together since the first time they met. A college choir was the setting where they became fast friends before falling in love and getting married. A life long musician, Carl had already been playing concerts and recording music when they were married but a busy travel schedule kept them apart in their first year of marriage. Their family motto, “together is better”, led them to do whatever it took to stay close and share life together. Heather quit her job, joined Carl and became the perfect addition to the music. They’ve been at it for over 17 years. Their ministry of leading worship, writing songs and mentoring musicians has taken them all over the world together and their family has grown to include a mighty tribe of four boys, Oak, Ezra, Abe and Ike.

Carl

Carl Cartee wrote his first song at the age of 7, considering music more of a second language than an acquired skill. His catalog of songs and studio albums have garnered him a Dove award as well as tracks on the albums of artists including Elevation Worship, Laura Story, Aaron Schust, Selah, Jaci Valesquez, Big Daddy Weave, The Martins, NewSpring Worship, Finding Favour, LifeWay Worship, The Gaither Vocal Band, Rory & Joey, The Oakridge Boys, FFH, Travis Cottrell and over 150 songs cut by other artists.

A life that started playing music and leading worship in the local church fostered a deep affection the Church and for writing songs for her to sing. No matter where the road leads, it’s never far away from a place to serve and give in the body of Christ. Carl has written and recorded thirteen albums over the last 18 years and performed with artists Third Day, Mercy Me, Steven Curtis Chapman but is most grateful to lead and serve on the staff of Fellowship Bible Church in Nashville, TN as Director of Worship Development and to found the Inspire Worship Conference, an annual event that trains and equips church worship leaders.

Heather

No one is more surprised she’d end up as a singer and worship leader than Heather Cartee. She’d always enjoyed music and singing but envisioned her career path at first as a physician. She started by majoring in pre-med biology her freshman year of college and pointing her sights in that direction. Once she met and married Carl, the reality of being married to a musician and minister reshaped her calling and her heart began to change. She’s simply not a sideline person, happens to be a gifted singer and worship leader and just had to get involved. Since then, Heather has spent many years on the road leading worship and developing her engaging and joyful style as a worship leader. Her presence on stage always evokes emotion and passion and her countenance gives off a glow of genuine joy.

She’s known as much for her passion to disciple young women as much as anything and making time to nurture and invest in others is one of her greatest loves. She homeschools the Cartee boys and loves being the undisputed champion mom of baking chocolate chip cookies.
